Sunrise Avenue: Hollywood Hills Meaning
Hollywood Hills Lyrics
Cause this is the end of the rainbow
Where no one can be too sad
No, I don't wanna leave but I must keep moving ahead
Cause my life belongs to the other side
Behind the great ocean's...
-
For me this song has a meaning about death and about leaving this "hollywood" world behind. The person died and is leaving this world which is like Hollywood, just an imaginary playground of life and he is reminiscing how he had fun playing this game of life but now he must move to the other side and he says there is no reason to be sad about it. I know this is probably not the real meaning of this song but still, to me this is how I see it. I heard this song after my cat died, in my sleep and that's how I understood it then. We always joked how he was from another planet because he was such a pure and kind being.

Am I only one who sees there not only one meaning (leaving America), but the second one- death?

Why so few interpretations for Sunrise Avenue!!!?
Well, Samu Haber was in America, about to go back to Finland. He looked at Hollywood Hills thru his window and thought, "Bye bye, Hollywood Hills"...
Yes, Sunrise Ave like to be in America, like to travel the world, but we know they're huge patriots. "My life belongs to the other side, Behind the great ocean's waves" - simply, his heart belongs to Finland, his home! -
the song is about him saying goodbye to his old life cause he's leaving
and he is remembering all his former glory days and all the fun he had where he used to live.
''Hollywood Hills'' is an alternative for his lover, the one he's leaving behind, and it's the person who he is gonna miss the most, and knowing that ''long distance love doesn't work'' he is saying goodbye know and that he is going to miss her where ever he goes.
but during the song he is making a promise that no matter what, one day he will come back to find her again so they could be together again ''I'm gonna come back to walk these streets again''
