The Get Up Kids: Out of Reach Meaning
Out of Reach Lyrics
lost by an echo, i'd never have known
i've got pictures to prove i was there,
but you don't care
here's me overseas, across a pond by the Dover peaks
i've smuggled myself into new nationalities, you think you'd be proud...

He's far away from what used to be home.. An echo drives off sound waves from it's original point.. So he's lost by an echo.. His home cries out to him but he'd never have known a place like that would be home.. Now his pictures are scars but wherever home was.. Possibly a girl.. She doesn't care.. He tries to leave but he never gets to far.. Overseas would be going across the atlantic but he sarcastically says over the pond by dover peaks.. He's tried so hard that he's changed who he is just to forget her and you'd think she'd be there but she's not.. Then he cries you'd think that if you were out of sight it would be out of mind, but it's not instead.. Since he keeps himself so far from her he wants to believe that she can't get a hold of him because he's out of reach.. Even though he knows that she's not coming back.. And he can't start over because the way he's feeling there's no way to begin doing it.. I may totally wrong.. But music is what you see it.. Any comments will be taken..
