The song seems to be from the perspective of a guy looking back with nostalgia after a breakup.
He tries to move on with his life by exploring things he hadn't previously thought about. He forces himself to think about something, anything, but her because he doesn't want to create anymore heartache. He says that the more time goes by, the "'further away' from him she becomes.
He begins regretting the time they had spent together. No matter what he does, he can't get her off his mind. He thinks about her constantly, night and day. He keeps thinking of the place where they spent much time with one another, and it has become both a place of comfort and anguish for him. He can’t sleep at night because he fears he'll dream of her, and the dream will force him back into his torment.
Together for only a few of weeks, they knew that it would have to end sooner or later. In the end, 'she' was the one to break it off, and he was left heartbroken, as he still had feelings toward her. He has a dream and she says that she's sorry that they ever even had a relationship, because she sees what it has done to him. He feels sorry for the same reasons; that they ever got together, because he doesn't like dwelling on it every moment in his life, but he is also upset that she left, because he does still care for her; he is torn between these two feelings.
As a result, he becomes obsessive, continuously flipping between those two mind-sets.
