The Misfits: Last Caress Meaning
Last Caress Lyrics
I killed your baby today
And it doesn't matter much to me
As long as it's dead
Well I got something to say
I raped your mother today
And it doesn't matter much to me
As long as she spread
Sweet lovely death
I...

#1 top rated interpretation:I’ve always felt like it’s a song about necrophilia... murder, rape... Last Caress, sweet death. I felt like it was obvious, and I almost feel like the abortion thing is an attempt to politicize it. It might be a bit more Nihilistic instead...

#2 top rated interpretation:You all are stupid. Every single song by the misfits was a horror movie. Glen Danzig is a horror movie fanatic. Last Caress is nothing more than an old horror film. It has nothing to do with abortion. Even the misfits skull is a horror character aka "the crimson ghost"... You're welcome, now go back to your dipshit little vapid lives.

#3 top rated interpretation:I don't know how people keep getting interpretations about how it's "Anti Abortion!" or "A Psycopath on Death Row!".
The song's true meaning from what I have concluded is about how Nothing Matters and in the end and we're all going to die. Specifically how the band portrays it's (or we) are ready for death. -
For me it's a love song. It's about how any horrible thing van be justified or experienced and be ok as long as he still gets one last caress. After the shock of "I killed your baby" or "raped your mother" the next line is "but that doesn't matter much to me, as long as you stay" I interpret it as a statement about both the good and bad potential for love's ability to push us far beyond what we would normally be willing to withstand from, or even to do others.

Edit: hell look at the lyrics for bullet...yea it's about jfk but it's also about jko drinking cum with her husband's brains all over her ....it's all about saying fuck you and your bullshit.

This song isn't about abortion ...it's not about 2 killers there were caught like years after the sing was written...it's got nothing to do with any old horror movie or about veatnam...the song is about shock . The song is meant to be shocking and upsetting...you have to understand in punk was all about shock ..you didn't just have songs about merder and rape ..shit the sex pistols were almost charged with treason for the lyrics to God save the queen and the jubilee show on the river, that was potentially a death penalty for some words..I don't think you people understand exactly what life was like in the early days of punk ..last caress is just some brutal shit to say to scare the straights..all there songs have a rockabilly vibe to them hence the melody of the song.res ipsa loquitur (the thing speaks for it self)..also Danzig has said exactly this many many times.

I think an overlooked aspect of the meaning to this song is the melody. Interpreting lyrics alone as a means of understanding what is being expressed is a sad attempt to translate an art piece into a mathematical equation. Like trying to it’s like exploring through the lens of a telescope instead of immersion. You can’t interpret this song without being aware that the lyrics and melody/composition are polar opposites and contradictory. Similar to “no rain” from blind melon. It evokes joy like a jolly sing along. The melody is joyful, the lyrics are dark. I don’t know if this was danzigs intention but I feel as though the contrasting components expresses the duality of man. One part of man reading the lyrics appalled and offended from them. But to look at it from another perspective. It would be a natural thing for a male lion to kill cubs from from someone other than himself, then take the female for himself. That would actually be a success in the animal kingdom, the beat achievement out there, totally triumphant. What if the joyful melody is an expression not in criticism of violence but how it can be so horrible but also speak to our most fucked up desires

Yeah, well, many people from rock, hardcore and metal bands are vegan these days, so this could also be interpreted to be about animals. Cows in this case, they are being "raped", impregnated, and their babys are taken away and oftentimes, killed, to "steal" their mothers milk and so on. Chances are, that the song was not meant this way, but i think interpreting it this way is not totally crazy. Guitarist Doyle is a vegan and one could say, animal rights activits, btw.

Maybe it has something to do with serial killer team Charles Ng & Leonard Lake.
They Killed a baby belonging to Lonnie Bond after kidnapping her & the infant, then they raped her on camera.
Leonard Lake recorded himself on camera talking about his psychotic delusions of grandeur in regards to having a harem of women sex slaves & how nothing else really mattered to him in this life.

To me, the song switches perspectives a few times. First, the rapist. He doesn’t care about anything or anyone. Second, the mother/ rape victim who obviously doesn’t want to carry her rapists baby.. but the lyrics are shocking because they intentionally leave out the nuance of the aforementioned scenario. The kicker is that the rapist said “YOUR mother” so he’s talking to you.. the dead unwanted fetus of a rape victim and a rapist.. so that makes him your father.. basically.
The “sweet lovely death” chorus could be the rapists desire to experience orgasm again that led to the situation unfolding. Kbye -
I've always interpreted the song as being about the shit that some solders did during the Vietnam war you know like killing kids and raping village girls.

To the guy that wrote "You all are stupid. Every single song by the misfits was a horror movie...."
I reply, it is about abortion you stupid fucking piece of shit cunt. Go fucking kill your mother who made such a dipshit fuck like you. You go to your fucking miserable pathetic life, stupid dump fuck and let the big boys interpret a song. It is about abortion you stupid cocksucker, something that your stupid mother should have done with you long ago. Don't your fucking thick head mongoloid skull get it? -
Always thought it was about two lovers having sex and he killed her baby today because he was either wearing a condom or pulled out. The part about sweet lovely death, I am waitin’ for your breath-come, sweet death, one last caress” He’s talking about an orgasm also known as La petite mort: is a french expression [la pətit mɔʁ], the little death is an expression which means "the brief loss or weakening of consciousness" and in modern usage refers specifically to "the sensation of post orgasm as likened to death." One last caress; as sex finishes

A serial killer/rapist on death row.

Its about a doctor doing abortions and being the first and last one to hold a baby. He killed your baby/child, he performed an abortion on your mom who spread her legs. To him its a procedure and he is familiar with death. This song is about an abortion doctor thinking about the meaning of life and how death is an everyday thing to him.
