TLC: Dear Lie Meaning
Song Released: 1999
Dear Lie Lyrics
You suck
You said you could fix anything
Instead I’m fucked
You made things even worse for me
If I had balls I’d tell you get away from me
Guess I’m not smart
I let you unnerve me
I let you control me
Afraid the truth would hurt...
-
Dear Lie came a poem that T-boz had written called what's my name and part of poem that it referred to is a lie. Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds liked the poem and he wrote Dear Lie and It talks about the lies the people tell.
-
i think this song is about two people in a relationship....one of them is telling lies.
-
I think this song has 2 possible meanings
1. Its about a person that has been telling lies to try and get themselves out of something, and then they realise that lying has only made things a lot worse.
2. 2nd possibility is its about being in a relationship with someone (not necessarily a romantic relationship) that has manipulated them and told them lies to the point that its taken over their mind and messed them up, and now they are at the point that they know theyre backed into a corner and have to prove that they have the strength to fight back.
At the end of the day it will mean different things for different people. -
It's about the devil the father of lies - get out of my mind, get out of my head, get out of me.
-
It's about the lies people tell us. Those lies are fueled by criticism, stemming from jealousy, anger, envy, etc.. Those lies become part of us, especially when you hear them from someone you love and trust over and over again. They start to seep their way into our thoughts, into our self-esteem and into who we see ourselves.
-
it's obvious...
SHE told a lie.
and now she knows lying is WORSE than telling the truth! -
It's actually about your inner demons or though i actually think it's a cute song about lesbian love <3
-
It's about a lie you tell yourself about a bad relationship to stay in it, and you come out wounded.
-
Every lyric in this song, is my last relationship. He made me think he could fix anything. In fact, he even said it! Then began to control me, unnerved me, repeatedly and i let him do it. So, this song and every lyric in it, is like, they were talking about me!...And it helps me deal..that's what it does for me!
-
It's about God..if you believe in something you don't know for sure about, and things around you are fucking up left to right, and your a "believer", somethings you go through can discourage you, and you could lose your faith...i think this is what she going through.. The thing about music is, it does not matter what the artist intended for the meaning, it's all what you are going through. Songs sound different if you're going through something dramatic.....AS FAR AS HOW A LIE CAN MAKE YOU FEEL ON THE LAST COMMENT, BULL SHIT, IT'S ABOUT WHO LIED, NOT THE LIE.
-
I think it's about how devastating one lie can be to a person.
