Warpaint: Undertow Meaning
Undertow Lyrics
They light up the river that the birds fly over.
Better not to quench your thirst.
Better not to be the first one diving in,
though you caught me and you know why
You breathe in the deepest part of the...

This is a song about a relationship with a manipulator. She says what's the matter you hurt yourself opened your eyes and there was someone else. Meaning that this person constantly blames others instead of acknowledging their mistakes. There was a fight that likely brought everything out. The person pushed them out so they are running away from home- away from the troubles.

this song is obviously about a relationship. my interpretation would be the conflict that generates the third person which makes a love triangle.
The couple is affected when one of them stop taking care of the other. So when the third person appears and this is realized, the conflicts emerges between them, because its to late to save the relation.
the lyrics is the dialogue having between them and in their own minds.
it starts saying how in love the person was, how he or she fell hard for the other.
and he or she is not to blame for what happened.
but at the end the situation ended so bad that the person runs away realizing that even though this wasnt the plan, the other one is hurt and real bad.
after reading this, listen to the song again.
if it is something different let me know.
this for me is exactly what the song is about. RELATIONSHIPS AND LOVE TRIANGLES.
