Will Paquin: Chandelier Meaning
Song Released: 2021
Chandelier Lyrics
I'm wasting my time, tryna make up my mind
Oh, I'm sitting here as the chandelier is whispering in my ear
Saying, "Can I get a cigarette?"
I know you'll never be mine
Can you come around tonight
And sing...
-
i interpret that this song is about a recently broken up or a one-sided relationship whilst having an addiction.
For ex. in the lyrics "Just take my heart and break it, can you come around tonight? i might be the enemy, but nothing quite hits like you." it foreshadows either a relationship the other thinks that wont work, but Will/the singer still loves them regardless.
and for the addiction part is mainly about cigarettes. as the lyrics "I'm sitting here as the chandelier is whispering into my ear saying 'can i get a cigarette?' i know you'll never be mine." and "I'm standing here as the man upstairs comes crashing through the ceiing saying 'wheres my f*cking cigarette?' with fire in his eyes." would say that the Man/Chandelier is his thoughts/addiction. -
I think the song is about addiction. The line “Catch my breath and hold it for me,” is about relying on the drug for everything that Will (or a character) does. When the chandelier asks for a cigarette, I think that is an interpretation of the persons view of himself, as well as the man crashing through the ceiling. The line “I’m wasting my time, trying to make up my mind,” is about making his trying to decide to quit, and ultimately deciding not to. Again adding to addiction, a very obvious line, “But nothing quite hits like you.” He aldo has hatred of this addiction. We know through the line “Just write me a song, and I’ll try to forget it.”

I feel like its about a mother figure who maybe left his life and he's stuck with a dad who is abusive or just doesn't pay attention to him.
"come sing me a lullaby"
something he probably didnt get to experience as a kid because he doesnt have anybody to do that for him
"will you come around tonight"
waiting for her to arrive because maybe she said she would be back.
"nothing quite hits like you"
appears as having a mother would complete his life and make it how it was when she was a part of his life
"standing there as the man upstairs goes crashing through the ceiling asking where's my cig"
the man upstairs referring to his dad, could be abusive and addicted to drugs or smoking. and saying he has fire in his eyes would mean the dad, he gets angry.
and basically he's sitting by himself waiting by himself with nobody to talk to

I think this song is about a man who is alone with his thoughts. Sitting alone in the empty room to tired to do anything but overthink. "Catch my breath and hold it for me"(to tired to breath by himself), as the time pass his thought are going from calm to angry, and the emotions are shown by the chandelier who is at first *whispering* in his ear calmly asking for a cigarette, then In a second verse his thoughts become angry "as the man come crush trough the ceiling" asking for his *fucking* cigarette. The pen thing I found amazing in this song as the artist is showing us how much the girl meant to him, "write me a song and I'll try to forget it" as her words means so much to him he only have to see them once to remember them and he have to try to forget what she wrote to him. This is just my point of view to this song and congrats to will for writing this piece of art. Spread love y'all.

The meaning is that your are waiting for someone and that person never come, then you start asking if is that person don't want to see you again and you start being overthinker.
