Now, I maybe horribly worng with this interpretation, because either it is just a song about how tough cool and tough they are or, to my more elaborated theory. I think the song is really about how the Top Corprate Labels wouldn't sign them because either they thought their music/rap wasn't like the others where it was so different and they just accept their way so this is pretty much a dis to all the Label that wouldn't accept them because their rap style was different. Protect Ya Neck meaning; Watch out because we're going to become famous and we'll show you. Now, how did I come to the theory? Well, If you hear Method Man and Genius's verse, they kind of make it more obvious than the other, but more GZA's than Meth's. Again, I could be horribly wrong or I could be right, so... That's my theory. Think about it.
