Alan Parsons Project: Don't Answer Me Meaning
Don't Answer Me Lyrics
I can change your mind.
And if you need to believe in someone .
Turn and look behind .
When we were living in a dream world .
Clouds got in the way .
We gave it up in a moment of madness.
And threw it...

It's about someone who never learnt how to deal with things that don't go his way. In other words, a spoiled brat who happened to be fortunate enough to be truly loved in a perpetual state of pouting. The on who loves him finally gives up and throws in the towel. I no longer want to hear from you after pleading.

Two lovers have a painful dispute which causes the woman to retreat (to an island) and put some "spiritual" distance between her and her man. This also could be a situation where some painful memories from the woman's past come to the surface and she is hiding from her man because she thinks he is the reason for the pain (when it's really something unresolved from her past abuse). The man, still very much in love with her, gently starts singing her this song using reverse psychology to try and win her back ("don't answer me, don't break the silence, don't let me win") and with a little prayer, maybe he will win - but it's not about winning - it's simply about him trying to show her that he still deeply loves her and if she can see through the lies /pain, she'll eventually make it back to him. (and as the music video goes, I'm glad she does).

Yes, an average guy but reaching out to what he thinks is love but I see as a total self consumed B. He could really love her be in his heart he knows she will not be devoted in love. Very sad as he tells her the love he has isn't good enough.

This is a great love song about an average guy that gets left by someone looking for perfection." If you believe in the power of magic , I can change your mind. If you need to believe in someone, turn and look behind".
It's my fave APP song :)
