   First of all,I'd like to state that I believe songs are meant to be interpreted by the listener. In that way, every opinion is equally right as long as it does not have contradicting characteristics. Yeah,so here's what I think:
   
   This is about a person who loves somebody so much that they can't let go even though they are not supposed to be together due to certain circumstances. Not so much in a forbidden love way, but more like because them being together is going to harm the singer. (this could be for many reasons.) It sounds as if the singer wants to push their lover away but they can't because they are too weak before their object of affection. There is an obvious reference to not knowing whether he/she should follow his/her heart or his/her logic. Initially, it seems as if the singer is set on following logic and failing at it but in the end, when you look at the whole thing, it becomes clear that there was never a matter of choice. It is about the person trying to justify their actions and convince himself/herself that "there is nothing they can do". He/She will follow their heart and,even though he/she knows it to be wrong, he/she wants to make it seem unavoidable.

   the song is about being in love and losing that person. and even though they are gone, you still hold on to hope that they'll come back and they fill you with false hope, and couldnt care less about you. and even thinking about them hurts.
