This song is about the Vietnam War, and what it is talking about is, how he will miss his lover while he is away at war. The song is also saying that even while he is away at war he will be true (faithful/not cheat) and he will pretend that she is there with him and he will write home everyday so that way he can tell her all about his day and the things going on, he will send all his loving to her meaning it wont go to anyone else.
