    Considering he mentions "Lear," as in possible reference to King Lear by Shakespeare whom is based on the legend of Leir of Britian and considering the identity of Shakespeare is obscured from history, I believe he could be implying that he is a ghostwriter. Possibly?

    That though the Beatles were already famous, they could assume a different name and become famous respectively. Correct?

    I was told that John Lennon was writing a fictional novel at the time and McCarthy wrote the song poking fun at him.

    I heard many years ago that Paul accepted a challenge from someone, to write a song about any subject that the person came up with, no matter how obscure or dull. The subject he gave him was "a writer of paperback books".
