Billie Holiday: Good Morning Heartache Meaning
Good Morning Heartache Lyrics

Billie could be singing about of number of things. Her heroin addiction, depression and her lover man that she could just as well be addicted to. Even though she loves him, he feels good to her (just like the heroin), but he's not good for her. In the end and none of it, the drugs, the heroin, or the lover want leave her alone--it's a heartache.

If Billie Holiday had writhen the song then it could be her heroin addiction she's singing about, but the song was written and composed for her so it most likely is about her battle with depression.

-
I feel that "happiness" evades her, or maybe depression, not so much her addiction.
