    Read somewhere that two years is approx length of time takes to get over a relationship that didn't want to end but was just not a healthy one . A stronger party suggesting encourageing that it's for the best it ends.the pain in loving each other but that it's just no good, toxic for each other. And that it may feel bad now but in two more years will realize that it was the right thing to split.
