Blues Traveler: Regarding Stephen Meaning
Regarding Stephen Lyrics
Four
Stand
Stand
Stand and walk
Tragedy
Is cheap and so is talk
Decision
Yours to make what will you do
In the end
It comes back to you
Cause it's a long... way to fall
Thunder
Don't scare me at all
Lightning
Well...

John Popper went over the song on the Howard Stern show years ago, I don’t remember the exact details, but what Chicken says is right on with his horrible experiences.
-
Chicken- Yeah, Its Odd that the stories and names are so similar or same as far as the television movie "I Know My First Name Is Steven"(1989). i wonder if its about the same Stephen?
-
Probably my favorite Blues Travler's tune. It just rings so authentic? Huge fan but this tune seems so raw and true?
-
It reminded me of a show/movie "I know my first name is Stephen" It was about a child that was kidnapped and years later escaped while also freeing a newly captured child.
-
John Popper has said this song was about a childhood friend who had terrible experiences and luck. He was kidnapped by his father and when he came back no one would speak to him about it except John. Throughout the years they drifted apart and then met again at high school and became friends again. He had lost numerous family members through death and once again John would talk about it with him. He wrote this song about him and apparently they met up again after he released it. Such an amazing song, especially the live version on vh1 storytellers. Harmonica solo is emotional!
