Boston: Peace of Mind Meaning
Song Released: 1977
Peace of Mind Lyrics
Futures coming much too slow
And you wanna run but somehow you just keep on stayin
Cant decide on which way to go
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I understand about indecision
But I dont care...

A uplifting song by the band BOSTON about privately protesting as a individual that felt betrayed that knows what it feels like being paralyzed by the system, where he chooses to be left behind by dropping out of the race in order to obtain a ''Peace of Mind'' to have his soul saved. Even though some people may see him as a quitter or loser, he believes as a ''conscientious objecter'' Living in the chaotic competitive times that became to unhealthy witnessing the outcome that he foreaw coming all around him. Especially by the hungry money making Corporations that were beginning to use the people by indulgeing them with sugarcoated energy forces for their selfish agendas. While at the same time influencing it's workers to be competitive with one onother even if they have to sell their souls to gain the world. For power that usually divides and destroys in the end one way or another which the soul of the individual does't matter to them. Only making the Corporations bigger and bigger that became to evermore influence the Government to be more evily used destructively towards an on going Wars for more and more unholy seats of power to make new Oligarchs and destroy some other ones around the World.

The secret to this song can be found in a great book written around that time called "Love is Letting Go of Fear."
In it, the author states that every person's number one goal should be to have "peace of mind." He goes on to highlight many of the ideas this song also touches on such as not worrying about competing and worrying about society's concept of success.
Good stuff. -
Basically this song is about stop trying so hard in life.. stop the competition nonsense. Oh I'm better than you.. so I'm gonna get all this. Indecision is basically like saying not being able to decide what is right or wrong or what your decisions are. "People keep on given advice", pretty much saying everyone keeps giving people advice, but in the end he doesn't really care about the advice. "Come a day when it won't matter, cause one day you'll be gone".. basically saying, stop worrying about everything going on and just worry about yourself for now because one day you'll eventually die.. saying life is too short to be worried about "big" things.

This is simply pointing out the problems and issues of humanity. People are always against working each other and only trying to please themselves, hoping that their struggles will end soon.
All the writer (Tom Scholz) really wants is for everyone's happiness and satisfaction (their own peace of mind).
