Calum Scott: Dancing On My Own Meaning
Song Released: 2016
Dancing On My Own Lyrics
Does she love you better than I can?
And there's a big black sky over my town
I know where you're at, I bet she's around
And yeah, I know it's stupid
But I just gotta see it for myself
I'm in the...

"Dancing on My Own" is a song by Swedish singer Robyn, inspired by disco anthems by Ultravox, Sylvester and Donna Summer. "Dancing on My Own" is an electronic and dance-pop ballad that speaks of a female protagonist who dances alone in a club while watching her ex-lover with another woman :)

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
I think it is either a bi or same gender point if view. The narrator(subject) see his ex-bf with a somebody new(who is a female). And the subject is obviously upset and hurt by their new relationship.

To make it short and simple
He is referring to a same “gender” -
You people are missing the background of this song completely.
"Dancing on My Own" is a song by Swedish singer Robyn, taken from her fifth studio album, Body Talk Pt. 1 (2010). The song was written and produced by Robyn and Patrik Berger, and was inspired by disco anthems by Ultravox, Sylvester and Donna Summer. get over it. -

I think that there is no bisexual thing in the song, i think he is remembering himself with his ex-gf. He was seeing himself with her. The song is all about that
-
I think it's about a guy who is still in love with his ex-gf, who in now dating a lesbian. The guy is even though he had a relationship with his ex-gf, he is also gay at the same time. It means his ex-gf is also a lesbian. Both of them are bisexual.
That's the meaning and I think this is happening in this generation.
FEMALE WHO IS STRAIGHT -
The song is so beautiful and I listen to it. I think it's either he's gay or his ex is lesbian it could be as that as possible.
-
I think this song is about a guy wishing he was dancing with his ex-bf. Although I totally disagree with the words and don't like the meaning. I still listen to it because the Melody is pretty. I find it annoying though how if you don't support LGBT you're considered a freak. But I'm a freak I guess. So deal with it. But I love some of his other stuff.
-
he is a guy who is gay and he broke up with his bf (or vise versa) and his ex-bf is bi and he’s dating a girl and calum sees them together.
-
I love the song it doesnt matter which gender he may prefer THE SONG IS VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL and thank you for recording it
-
Okay that makes sense when I first heard it I thought it was about a guy and a girl who was dating but then all sudden the girl became gay I didn't realize it was the guy who was homosexual all along.
-
This song is about a guy who broke up with the the same gender and who is now seeing a girl. Perhaps his ex-bf was gay before but now realized that he is straight. Some people are really homophobic, but to each his own, we have to respect if they are homophobics. Nice voice.
Straight and sometimes blunt, reserved at times -
I interpreted a few Opinions here to be very disturbing. No one can ask a simple question without being labeled Homphobic. I too was confused if it was a gay man singing to another Man or just a man singing a song that was originally written by a Woman.... Does this make me Homophobic to wonder what the meaning is behind this song? I like the song
