Songs about Photography
Leonardo da Vinci published his Codex Atlanticus in 1502, and writes of the camera obscura effect he witnessed in buildings in the city. By reflecting sunlight off of one building, and having a building across the street with a small hole drilled in the wall, daylight would pass through a lens in that hole broadcasting the image of the lit building into a dark room. You could then set up an easel and paint over the lit image on the canvas. And from there developed the art of photography.
Photography captures the advent of the 20th century information age. We had writing all along, but it took the transmission of images to really bring the spread of information to the fore. From the camera lens to the video camera lens to the digital images on a phone screen, a picture tells a thousand words.
