Counting Crows: Colorblind Meaning
Colorblind Lyrics
coffee black and egg white
pull me out from inside
i am ready, i am ready
i am ready
i am taffy stuck, and tongue tied
stutter shook and uptight
pull me out from inside
i am ready, i am ready
i am ready, i am fine

#1 top rated interpretation:This is a beautiful song. Colorblind I believe means I'm not seeing the subtleties in the world because I'm stuck in my shell, inside myself. I am ready to come out now and feel, take chances, be loved and love. The second verse is like I can't say what I want to, the words never come out right, and I'm scared and uptight. Third verse is like I hide behind my skin and don't let others in. The "folded, unfolded, unfolding" is like origami, having your feelings twisting and folding and back again.
That's the best I can explain it, but if you've been there, you get it. -

#2 top rated interpretation:In my estimation, this song is about depression. The color is stripped from everything, leaving only a dull black and white dichotomy. The speaker has anxiety, and an inability to interact and share emotions with others. They want something to change, feel ready for it, yet in the end perhaps are not able to enact that change alone. They are telling themselves that they're fine, hoping that doing so will change the reality that they're not.

The first time I heard this song it made me think of abortion. It’s the baby that is cold blind. I got pregnant when I was 23 and this song would come on and I’d cry. I now have beautiful 16 year daughter that means the world to me. This song made me think of my accident as a small human growing inside. It wasn’t her choice to be made and her whole being was in my hands. Her dad is now in prison but she is truly a gift from God. I even tell her she’s the best accident I’ve ever had. Just because you have power to end a life doesn’t mean you should. Listen again and think of it as the fetus speaking it hits you differently.

When I first came across this song I was fresh into a break up and it meant and still means to me that I lost myself in this relationship and now that it's over, I don't know what to do with myself. How to act, what I see, how I see myself, what to do, how I feel? Like peacefully lost...convincing myself that it's ok to be in rediscovery. I am uncertain, and scared, yet I am fine. Relearning myself in the uncertainty

Perfect song to describe someone who keeps emotions hidden or does their best to make sure no one sees their emotions. Its about someone who has held so much inside and is just ready to let it out. They have become great at pretending to be fine.

I think this song has different perspectives, but i think that this song is about a person who doesn't realize that the one person they really love is right in front of them the whole time and that person was waiting his/or hers life to hope he/or she realizes that "this is me" the one you have should have loved from the start. This song to me is about lost love , soon found and, showing those emotions to each other through passionate intimacy.

I dedicated this song to my Beautiful 27 yr old daughter..Who has addiction problems....I see alot of her in this song and myself as well....We tend to get complacent with our recovery because we think that we are fine....

i think that the song has to do with emotions. i think its like someone has not shown emotion and just buried it deep inside themself. they cant get out of their shell because they are ready. they feel like they need help. from a friend perhaps.

i think everyone can interperate this song differently, oly the writer knows the meaning that refers to them , (the true meaning) but thats the whole point, to interperate it in the way that suits you, in a way that speaks to you inside. its different for everyone
