Deanna Carter: Strawberry Wine Meaning
Song Released: 1996
Strawberry Wine Lyrics
I was thirsting for for knowledge and he had a car
I was caught somewhere between a woman and a child
When one restless summer we found love growing wild
On the banks of the river on a well...

trying to forget and hold on at the same time ..for me it’s about mixed interpretations how love was lost eventually due to unprecedented circumstances and she was trying to move on but never could and still cannot…she is lying to herself wishing he would come back to her but scared to face the reality does love really stand the test of time.

A young man came to work at her Grandpas farm one summer. She was thirstimg for knowledge meaning she was wanting to learn about about love and sex.She was caught between a girl and women means she was old enuf to be a women but was still a virgin. The july moon saw everything means the moon is the only thing that saw them having sex in his car. Her first time having sex was bittersweet. She didnt want him to leave but when he did they sent each other cards and called but eventually they drifted apart. Now she is past 30 and lonly cause she rembers back when she was young and in love. Its been a while since she has been love and she still thinks about him and wonders if she was in love with him or if he is still special to her because he took her virginity.

Can't believe nobody has written an interpretation for this song.
It's about a woman reflecting on a particular summer during her teenage years when she was seventeen and the things she experimented with (strawberry wine, first taste of love).
The fields not seeing a plow for years symbolizes her as an older woman considering how she hasn't been in love for years and how her life is grown over and old, and not young and fresh like it was that summer.
