Def Leppard: Photograph Meaning
Song Released: 1983
Photograph Lyrics
I'm outa luck, outa love
Gotta photograph, picture of
Passion killer, you're too much
You're the only one I wanna touch
I see your face every time I dream
On every page, every magazine
So wild so free so far from me
You're all I...

#1 top rated interpretation:Ok, if you don't know that this song is about Marilyn Monroe, then you obviously don't know Def Leppard that well. It's about a passion killer who stalks Marilyn Monroe.

It’s about a long distance relationship and the character is fed up with wanting or having just a photo, when what he really wants is to connect to her with touch. He longs for her “I don’t need your…photograph” because what he really wants to do is so much more physical. The love interest is no ordinary girl to him, she (represented as Marilyn Monroe) is a Goddess, unattainable, powerful and ‘far away’ from him. Lastly, it is powerful how he rejects her photo with the longing so strong he has for her actual body and presence close to him.

Recently went to their concert and the only thought that kept repeating in my head was, how cruel can a person be? Wierd, I know, but you would have to know the entire story...oh, wait! You do. Nevermind.
