    It's about someone reminiscing about the good old days, wishing he could get them back and wishing he hadn't taken them/it for granted. Particularly his old girlfriend. Very nostalgic. By the way, this is Don Henley's song.

    Not sure but I interpret this as someone being very in love with someone and them checking up on that person as In "I can see you/ you got your hair straight back and smiling at everyone.and " I'm gonna get you back and show you what I'm made of", could mean the people had a thing going on but then it faded for some reason and the other one wants the person back when that person is fooling around with the boys of summer. The protagonist reminisces about the time they had together and those special nights and the song is just a genuine beautiful love song. PEACE.xxxxxxxx
