Eddy Grant: Romancing the Stone Meaning
Song Released: 1984
Romancing the Stone Lyrics
-
My interpretation: This song has double meaning at times: it is about a man who finds a woman who has been hurt and her heart is like a stone/ he is like the jeweler who finds the stone rough he polishes it/ referring to the lyrics going to love the hurting away. He is falling into peaceful waters her bed where the unicorn is the last one at the water hole (refers to the sex act her the water hole refreshing him. She is such a emerald her fire beauty can be seen she could slip from his hand the jeweler ( others could steal her away) he confirms to her he will love her night and day washing all the heartaches away/ like a jeweler who cleans a stone in the rough. In the heat of rapture through her brokenness the glass he sees finally the sweet desire of love in her for him. He declares he will climb upon my pulpit ( her body) and preach a sermon you ( meaning declare his love to her talk about her she is everything) and all the mountain roads in Harlem will know she is in the jewlers hold. Meaning she is his/ he owns her ( she belongs to him no one else) no one will hurt her anymore.
