Elijah Woods: Lights Meaning
Lights Lyrics
We were so broke working minimum wage
I know your momma had enough of me I wasn't a saint
Sneaking out the bathroom window at a quarter to 8

It seems like he might have been witnessing his lover cheating. He did have mention them working minimum wage and things not working but then gets confused as to “why the lights keep coming on,” which I think is when he witnesses some other guy coming over lately. It’s kind of difficult to understand since we usually associate light with positive things, however Elijah might have meant it to be fear or signs of something he would want last.

I think that the song is saying Elijah Woods has relationships that were never meant to be. And that is why it says "It's hard when you face the truth inside and out so don't go on blaming yourself".
