Epica: Feint Meaning
Feint Lyrics
has been extinguished
smothered by those who could not bare to face reality
every beat of your heart tore the lies all apart
made foundations quiver
every wave in the lake caused the porcelain to break

The song is about the assassination of a Dutch politician (Pim Fortuyn) and the after effects on society. The guy pretty came out of nowhere and wrote a book about the problems in our society and what needed to change to fix it (i read it and it was a good book). A few interviews on TV programs made him very populair. Since he was not associated with any of the parties in our parlement they first laughed it off when people started talking about him participating in the elections the next year. The people started to organize a new party that soon shot up in polls. Suddenly the other parties realized this party could actually win the next years elections and become the biggest party in parlement. This is when slander campagne started with the help of Dutch MSM (they never fail to disappoint). He soon got compared to Hitler (that is the standard default when they have no good arguments) and we have probable all seen this tactic being used before. It got so bad that a left-wing (something they try avoid to mention) lunatic shot him on his way to an interview. Now the media and political system where so called "shocked" that this could happen and they never ever admitted that they had created the whole atmosphere to make this happen. I love that Epica wrote a song about this as general warning.
