For King & Country: Burn The Ships Meaning
Song Released: 2018
Burn The Ships Lyrics
We're castaway on a lonely shore
I can see in your eyes, dear
It's hard to take for a moment more
We've got to
Burn the ships, cut the ties
Send a flare into the night
Say a prayer, turn the tide
Dry your tears and...

The meaning of this song and Control - Keep me Grounded and remind me to let go of the reigns and let God lead me. All to often we find ourselves, Comfortably Miserable. Each of us usually know we need to change, but many are too afraid to do it. The devil makes himself known everywhere and God is there and ready to take the reigns back, but we have to hand them over.

In my opinion….Get rid of what is toxic and/or painful in your life. Walk away from the pain and suffering and move forward. Step into a new day. A new birth. A new breakthrough having GOD in your life.

The song is for those struggling with addiction or any sin that someone is trying to repent and turn from. Once you “flush the pills”, burn the ships so you can’t travel back to the sorrow and pain of addiction (sin) and enjoy a full breath in knowing that God’s grace and love is sufficient. He will give you the strength to persevere.

Explorers would tell their crews a long time ago to burn their ships so they couldn’t go back to the comforts of life at home. We need to burn the ships that will take us back to the temporary “comfort” of sin. If we are struggling, God will carry us. It’s his works that purify us. John 15
But we aren’t puppets; we need to take initiative and burn the ships. -

Did you notice the lyrics, "flush the pills" in this song? The link explains this.
This song goes very, intentionally deep. Its main theme, "Burn the ships", is about leaving our old life and stepping out into a new day — or in other words, burning the old comfort of our ships so that we cannot cuddle in the familiarity of the boat. Even if our boat is dirty, we may still stay there anyway because we don't want to explore the unknown that may be scary for us. Likewise, in our Christian lives, there is a time to say goodbye to the old — to leave our old friends, old habits, or even old home behind, especially if it is trying to tractor-beam us back into sin. The LORD will provide our needs, more than enough to account for whatever we give up, if we know Him and if we ask Him to provide! -
This song represents leaving struggles and burdens behind and walking away to begin a new day! And in a way talking about "burning the ships", we can understand that we can get rid of our worries using God, other supportive people, and our own courage. This song basically carries out this message: Let's burn our ship and climb onto the shore of God's love!
