Frank Sinatra: That's Life Meaning

Album cover for That's Life album cover

That's Life Lyrics

That's life
(That's life)
That's what all the people say
You're riding high in April, shot down in May
But I know I'm gonna change that tune
When I'm back on top, back on top in June

I said that's life
(That's life)
And as funny as it...

I had this song in my brain as awoke this morning. As of this moment like many others around the world, I am concerned about getting infected with the Coronavirus, as I think it’s fair to say I’m in the “at risk of fatality” category.
Sometimes stuff happens. We’re all going to die at some point. That’s life.

Perhaps it is a song about living in the real world while having bipolar disorder. All those ups and downs, then at the end he says if nothing happens, he will roll himself up into a ball and die. He didn’t write the song, but Sinatra himself was bipolar, and arguably expressed the song better than anyone else who tried. The song was also featured in “Joker”, the movie, which is, in a lot of ways, a movie about mental illness.

    Just a theory.

A guy tries...sometimes wins, sometimes loses... and when he loses too many times... he says "F"it, that's life....

Reincarnation. You can't do all that in one lifetime.

Hmm, I guess this song is about not letting dissapointment get you down, and moving on and realising that "that's life",
But what throws me off here, is when he says, "I'm going to jump on a big bird, and then i'd fly", because it sounds like he's giving up if what he wants he doesn't get right away. Anyway I still belive this song is about not giving up, and makes me want to push through lifes hardest parts.
