Garth Brooks: The Dance Meaning
Song Released: 1990
The Dance Lyrics
The dance we shared beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our...

Losing your love is the most worse painful moment you can ever go through but looking back or refreshig on what u'v shared is the most wonderful thing such that you would even want to stop the hand of time for a moment.....I think that's what Mr Brooks is trying to put across.Christiany.

"Our lives, are better left to chance, I could've missed the pain, but I'da have to miss the dance"
He pretty much says how if he knew how bad it would hurt when they ended he wouldn't of even been in the relationship in the first place, but then he decides that he couldve missed the pain... But he would have to miss the dance (the wonderful times they were together) -
This song was written by Tony Overman, originally. This is actually printed in CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE TEENAGE SOUL #1.
(There are four TEENAGE SOULs) -
Live life it it's fullest daily for it's short and God's given you this chance to dance in His world.Make the most of it,bad times or good.

This song, yes is about love gone wrong. He could have missed the pain, but wouldn't have had all the good experiences, but Garth himself also has said that it's about going through what you have to to stand up for something you believe in. Like Martin Luther King Jr. So it's also that you could have missed all the crap and bad stuff in life in general, but you would have missed all the great things. Garth also said that he wants this song played at his funeral. I think it's a Perfect funeral song... :)

The song has two meanings yes about finding and loosing someone you love but also about life and overcomingall the difficulties so remember cherish your life you never know when it will end.

I think this song is about him losing someone, a former love of his possibly, and how they died. what he's saying is that he could have avoided the pain, had he never gotten so close to her, but then he would have missed out on the memories they shared. the moral of the song is that never be afraid to love someone, because your scared of the hurt you'll experience if you lose them, love the memories you've shared with them, and have no regrets.
