Gem Club: Spine Meaning
Spine Lyrics
Pierces my mouth
Man arise from the lake
Find there is nothing left
Spine splits and shifts
From dusted days
Her perfume is sick
Gun powder sings
You're beautiful
Silver apples
Like carrion
-
I think this is about a dying love, a love that he doesn't want to lose. I think when she left him he felt like he was dead inside and to live without her requires him to be someone he doesn't want to be, which is why there's an allusion to a man rising from a lake, yet finding nothing to live for. It's almost like an allusion to baptism. And the smell of her perfume reminds him of what he's lost, which brings back the pain that makes him feel like he's decaying and withering away from what he was when he was happier.

I think it means a man is returning from war and he comes back to nothing left because it says "man arise from the lake, find there is nothing left" and it says "like carrion" and carrion is a dead body. Also because it says "gun powder sings." But he can still see and smell his lover or even comes back to his lover for she is the only one left. I'm sure this is no where near the intention of this song that Gem Club had, this is just my guess
