He Stopped Loving Her Today Lyrics

He said I'll love you 'til I die
She told him you'll forget in time
As the years went slowly by
She still preyed upon his mind

In this song, the woman leaves the man, but he is still in love with her. She is on his mind all through the years. He even keeps old love letters from her by his bed. He finally stops loving her because he dies. "He said I'll love you till I die."

To the first poster... When it says "She came to see him one last time," it is at his funeral.

It's a song, for goodness sake. Don't analyze it. Don't try to interpret its meaning. Listen to it. Let it flow over you & into you. Then, you'll know what it means to you. To me, it's about loss and pain and heartache, and finally, peace. After all, when you hear "... This time, he's over her for good " , you know the heartbreak is finally gone.

cant make my mind up,is she talking to him from her deathbed, when she says you,ll forget in time.when she visited one last time was it her ghost coming to take him away,or was it simply that she'd left him.
