Glen Campbell: Rhinestone Cowboy Meaning
Song Released: 1975
Rhinestone Cowboy Lyrics
-
It's about a country singer trying to make it big. He keeps singing his song. He knows every crack in the dirty sidewalks of broad way.To me he's singing in all the honky tonks on Broadway street in Nashville hoping he will get noticed. Some say it's about Broadway in New York. Nashville is about country music. Broadway in New York is about plays and musicals. When he does make it big he will by a shining star. Like a Rhinestone Cowboy.

I am surprised that no one has offered a meaning of this song as it must be Glen Campbell's most popular song. For me it's a very spiritual song as it represents the life long story of my father. He was a very humble man who lived a simple life but always was kind to & caring of others. He never aspired to greatness but lived to promote kindness & provide for his wife & family as best he could. This in my view made him a great man who was a local hero to friends & family. His reward will be in the afterlife where he will be greeted by the masses in a fanfair procession not unlike the entry of the Rhinestone Cowboy into a rodeo.
