Goldfinger: Spokesman Meaning
Spokesman Lyrics
Did it go away again?
Just like a worn out trend?
Will I still defend emotions?
What happened to honesty?
I don't see it on the Top Ten
I only see it in what has been
Cuz I still defend devotion
Am I...

This song is basically expressing Feldmann's utter disgust with today's society. "/What happened to dignity?/ Did it go away again?/ Just like some worn out trend/ What happened to honesty?/ I don't see it on the top ten/ I only see it in what has been/ What happened to integrity?/ I don't see it on MTV/ all I see is choreography/ What happened to puberty?/ Bad skin and insecurity/" They're all lines explaining the corruption, and specifically makes an attack at MTV for not appealing to what the watchers will be, but telling them what they should be.
It also makes a direct attack at sitcoms that fill people with personal problems. /And who the fuck is Felicity?/ 'Cause I got problems of my own."
The most amazing part, in my opinion, is the chorus: "Don't wanna rest/ And don't wanna breathe/ When I wanna hear about life/ Don't wanna hear a spokesman/ I don't wanna test/ I want to believe/ The god damn singer wrote the song/ Don't wanna hear a spokesman." He's obviously talking about singers who don't write their own songs. He wants to hear the writer expressing their emotions, not some Timberlake fellow, or Avril Lavigne who require writers and co-writers.
