Green Day: She Meaning
Song Released: 1995
She Lyrics
She screams in silence
A sullen riot penetrating through her mind
Waiting for a sign
To smash the silence with the brick of self-control
[Chorus:]
Are you locked up in a world
That's been planned out for you?
Are you feeling like...

I identified with this song as a 13 year old. I think it is about wanting control over your own life. The lyric "Are you feeling like a social tool without any use?" Resonated with me because I often felt paraded around by my mother and just put back on a shelf. You know that I was just there to show off.
Disclaimer: I wasn't a pageant kid, just someone who had a narcissistic mother that cared more about her image than raising her kids.

I heard someone say that it was about a trans-woman. I think it kind of fits, the line "all her doubts were someone else's point of view," sounds a lot like internalised transphobia, like having doubts about being trans because people around are telling you that you're making it up and doing it for attention, or people saying she's going to regret transitioning in the future. Also, the line "to smash the silence with the brick of self-control," could be a reference to the fact that Marsha P. Johnson (a trans-woman) is often credited with throwing the first brick in the Stonewall riots (although she has denied this) .

It’s a song about a girl who dumped Billie Joe and moved out of the country. She left him a map and a letter I believe and she left.
-
She is about a girl that Billy Joe dated according to him in a VH1 interview (look it up, haha).
I think the song is basically about what’s already been stated; a young woman who feels out of control and oppressed without an outlet. It seems to be referencing her attempt to deal in the “real world “ but she’s ill-prepared from being overprotected and stifled, perhaps by family but more by society it seems. I feel like the song represents how many young women feel once their of an age of adulthood but still feel treated like a girl by the larger culture and society. -
it is about a girl whos friends are mean and dominate her and her boyfriend helps her by listning to her problem "scream at me until my ears bleed"
-
I like it! "She... She's figured out..." That whole line is perfect for me.
-
She is about having a life where people tell her lies, and she believes them because she doesn't know what to believe in. "She, shes figured out, all her doubts were someone elses point of view" Also, her life is mapped out and she doesn't have a choice, and an opininated voice. "Are you locked up in a world that's been planned out for you"
...And she feels that she has no point in life. "Are you feeling like a social tool without a use" -
She is about someone who feels like she is drowning from the world she lives in. So many people are telling her what to do and what to think that she needs someone she can tell it all too and Billie Joe is offering that support.
I heard this song was written for his wife. -
She is about a girl who has done all of what she was told in her life and can't take it any more. I think it's about one of Billie Joe's girlfriends who he dated who had parents like that. Its one of my favorite things and helped me get through high school
