Alone Lyrics
I'm lying here the room's pitch dark
I wonder where you are tonight
No answer on the telephone
And the night goes by so very slow
Oh I hope in won't end though
Alone
Till now I always got by on my own
I...

I think "alone" means: when will I be finally all alone with you, just you and me. Then I can confess my feelings. Maybe this man is with someone else and she wants him to have all to herself. For her alone!! Thats why she is waiting a long time for him
How do I get you alone.... -

This is about a woman who has been fine being alone. I think the man is just a friend, it’s been a platonic relationship. He probably has told her about women he has been seeing. She was fine with it, until she fell hard for him. I believe they’ve often even talked on the phone. No answer on the telephone.she always got by on her own, but wanted to tell him tonight, her feelings. She worked up to be honest with him. She is so in love with him, it chills her to the bone. Is about someone that has never felt that way before.

She is waiting every second for him to answer the telephone and let her know that she won't be alone anymore. It's that simple! But while waiting she feels chilled to the bones contemplating a possibility of no reply through the telephone. But she hopes that on this particular night, (perhaps due to her extreme love or infatuation with him), that if the phone rings, she will confess her love for him on the telephone. The song is about the hope of not being alone anymore in life from a particular night or rather particular time in one's life.

This song is easy to interpret.
Now I know your thoughts. I don't think the woman is in love with a married man.
This is about a woman who didn't care if she was alone and she loves being alone. I think she met a man who has a life of his own and she never really knows his whereabouts. She cares for him and is in love with him. She tried to call his phone but he didn't answer. I think she wanted to tell her feelings for him and invite him to go out or see each other. I think the guy has his reasons why he didn't answer her call or he was doing something important, etc. I think he knows she has feelings for him but he didn't feel the same.
That is all I can say. -
I think it’s about a woman who’s in love with a married man. Now that you know my thoughts listen to the lyrics again.

I listen to this song and interpret as an empath or a codependent wanting to “fix” a narcissistic spouse. There is too much involvement and influence from family, friends social media etc to get him alone.
Although social media wasn’t out at the time it was written, I interpret it to the present. -
I think that this is a double play on the word alone, She talks about getting the person Alone as a positive and also a negative. I think maybe she has fallen in love with someone who is seeing many people and she was hoping to start a relationship with him but he is out with someone else which makes her feel alone instead of being with him alone.
