Hop Along - Bruno is orange Meaning
Bruno is orange Lyrics
He's a clever man, did you know?
I bet he works for the government
And I know you know I know
I can't control thoughts of things I needed
I believe everybody needs some encouragement
I think it's real...

I personally think that the s9ng is about a girl/minor in a relationship with someone who is grooming or s/a-ing her but she doesn’t understand/ doesn’t want to accept that he’s doing something so bad to him when she still loves him. (Btw idk if he is older but I’ve seen people say that he is)

As someone who has experienced S/A from an older person (while I was a minor) and has been groomed by that same person, I can confirm that this is about grooming. Think of the lyrics: "Bruno? What did you tell that man, he's a clever man, did you know? I bet he works for the government." The person singing this is already addressing "Bruno" (possibly a friend), saying the older man is "clever" and that he "works for the government." Saying that Bruno should trust the man. "And I know you know I know I can't control thoughts of things I needed, I believe everybody needs some encouragement." The singer said that she (maybe) needs time and encouragement to tell someone about what's happening to her. And possibly forming a bond with her abuser. And then there comes the chorus: "I think it's real unfair that you should put him there." What she is saying to Bruno is: It is unfair that you should accuse him of grooming me. "All we did was kiss, on my grave I swear." The singer opened up to Bruno about what the man was doing. " I cannot do the rest of this song though xD.. I have homework to do - sk@nkhunt42

I always thought this song was about a young girl who grew up in a very religious family getting groomed by an older, and through the whole song she’s being warned not to trust him (and at some point abused for having sex with him)
-
In my opinion I stick by the theory that it's about an interracial couple in a time where it was illegal, because the word "Bruno" literally means a dark skinned man

This song tells the story of a young girl being groomed by an older man, who then turn himself in, but she can't bring himself to believe he did anything wrong.
