Jack's Mannequin: Swim Meaning
Song Released: 2009
Swim Lyrics
Swim for your life
Swim for the music that saves you
When you're not so sure you'll survive
You gotta swim
And swim when it hurts
The whole world is watching
You haven't come this far to fall off the earth
The currents...

This song makes me think about the Norwegian Massacre in which over 60 teens and young adults were gunned down by a deranged man. There's a documentary showing some who took to the fridges waters in escape. They swam for life and bullets cascaded around them. Such a tradgic scene.

This song is clearly about Andrew's struggle with Leukaemia. Just about every line has a reference to the battle caused by the cancer. some of the lines below are the ones that instantly give a clear meaning of the song:
"You haven't come this far to fall off the earth"
"Just keep your head above"
"I'm not giving in, I swim"
and "Don't let yourself sink" are all examples of lyrics that basically are saying try to survive, don't let youself die.
"Swim for your families, your lovers, your sisters and brothers, and friends" is saying try and fight for the sake of the ones you love.
I think that this is a beautiful song. It's well written and very deep in my opinion at least :]
