Jason Walker: Echo Meaning
Echo Lyrics
Hello
Anybody out there?
Cause I don't hear a sound
Alone
Alone
I don't really know where the world is
But I miss it now
Im out on the edge
And I'm screaming my name
like a fool at the top of my Lungs
Sometimes when I close...

#1 top rated interpretation:Its about yearning, about love, and about the silent hope that it will eventually all be alright.
Its about that the feeling that one person is your entire universe and that with a single look they could alter your entire lives course... and that thats ok.
I think he's trying to show, that no matter how much it hurts and how hard it is - if you have that feeling, then its worth fighting for, because it would be an awful shame to let it go.
He wants to be healed, he wants to feel the good side of love again, not just the heartache. He wants to be loved... and who doesn't? -
A love song.
This person feels like they're an island, detached from the world without the person they love. They're wanting to be saved by them. Having them in their life, seeing their face again is the only way to feel alive again, to feel like they're part of the world. For now, on the edge screaming their own name because all they have is their own echo, their own shadow... until this one person comes back to them. People can actually feel this way even when they're surrounded by friends just by being in the absence of the person they love. -
I believe this song was written for people that have mental diseases/illnesses. It is a constant struggle to have to deal with whatever is going through people's heads, and then deal with everything in the world. With that said, there is loneliness which is wanted to be broken from, but instead leads to a painful and alone isolation of ones self.
-
He is struggling with something personal.
I know what it is, but I can't tell anyone.
Just saying! -
this is about someone who feels alone, maybe an outcast. Maybe he's tried to escape the loneliness("sometimes I close my eyes and I pretend I'm alright but it's never enough")there might be a specific person he wants to help him "chase the crazy" away, like they might save him from himself.
Another interpretation-as all the previous people have noted before me- is loss of a loved one. I can relate to both. -
I have a different interpretation
In my opinion, the song is about depression Hello Hello anybody out there is jason looking for somebody to share his feelings with.
Cause I don't hear a sound alone alone is the feeling that there is no one there and that everyone is ignoring you
I don't really know where the world is
But I miss it now is the feeling that you are somehow separated from the rest of the world
Im out on the edge
And I'm screaming my name
like a fool at the top of my Lungs
Sometimes when I close I pretend im alright but its never enough is the feeling that you are crying for help but no one is listening and as hard as you try to fake a smile, its not working.
The rest of the song just gives you a feeling of being alone and sad when really everyone is trying to help you. Ive been through it all and understand it -
I think it's possible that maybe this is about loss as well as loneliness. I don't get the impression that it's a love song in the romantic sense either but more like a song about the loss of perhaps a parent, sibling or even a close friend.
When I heard "You could come and save me and try to chase the crazy right out of my head" I got the impression that the singer felt whoever they've lost was their main support in their life and could always make them see sense.
At the same time I think that the lines "I just wanna feel alive and Get to see your face again" suggest that he's having a difficult time after losing this person and, because he usually turns to them, he feels like he can's talk to anyone to get them to help him. This makes me think that the "Hello, hello. Anybody out there?" is the singer trying to find someone he feels he can relate to before the loss of his friend/sibling/parent becomes too much for him to bare.
But hey, that might just be me. :) -
I think what this song mean is that he is alone with his Feelings. the other People can't understand him. So they let him alone. he hope. that al this is a dream, but he can't believe himself. it's a song about the Hope that all will be alright.
-
I think that he lost someone every close to him and he looked up to that person a lot and now he feels like he has no one.
-
I think it's about God. The beginning "Hello, hello is anybody out there?" I think is refering to the existence of God. He is calling out to God. The notion that you are never alone comes from believing God is always with you. "He doesn't hear a sound", he can't hear God's voice or see a sign of His presence therefore he feels he is all alone. He is trying to talk to God but all he can hear is his own voice, his own prayers maybe. Since he says "sometimes when I close my eyes" as in when you close your eyes to pray.
Then in the second verse he ask for even just a whisper, for someone to come chase the crazy out of his head, to come save him. He is asking for God to answer him and come save him.
He just want to be alive and to see someone's face again. It could be God, in a lot of christian songs there is that "I want to see Your face" notion too.
That's how I feel maybe I'm wrong :p -
I think what this song means is that he's alone and even though he's keeps look for someone to save him yet not one person speaks to him; that he's issolated. He tries to pretend he's okay, but the silence reminds him that he's not. He seems to want someone- the person he believes is special- to save him. Yet even though he knows they could- they won't- even though he's willing to take just the smallest amount of love.

I really relate to this song BUT to me it's not a love song it's a "old self" reflection in a way, I went through and still am going through a major health issue that changed me life and I feel the person that I was and the face I used to see is gone and this song to me I hear it as the first person words are talking about the friend as there old self " just wanna see your face again "...... And " just a whispher is all you have to give " there lines I feel when I hear this song that I'm asking the old me! Just my view
-
My interpretation is that it means that he's all alone. No one understands what he's going through. And they obviously don't have a care in the world. He really needs someone to lend him a hand but there's no one there to take the offer.

To me, this song is about the moment where you feel down, when you feel that nothing can make you feel better, where you feel all alone, and there is this one person in the world who can make you feel better by just being there, bu just looking at you. It is now necessarily about the one you love, it can be a friend or a family member...
When I read the lyrics of this song, what I see is desperation, he's screaming "at the top of [his] lungs", meaning he needs to expulse all his rage and bad emotions to the world.
