    I think in this song jhené is trying to say that she doesn’t want to get played anymore. When she says “ hope you are who you say,If you aren't who I thought,It'll break my heart” she is saying he seems like a really nice guy but she doesn’t want her expectations to get high or it would hurt her when she finds how truly he is. She also says “ from a past lover, bad lover
    Please don't do me wrong” she had people break her heart and she doesn’t want to go through a heart break again because she knows how to love hard.
