Jimmy Eat World: Hear Me Now Meaning
Hear Me Now Lyrics
You gave us some place to go.
I never said thank you for that.
I thought I might get one more chance.
What would you think of me now,
so lucky, so strong, so proud?
I never said thank you for...

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:From the band's FAQ section:
"Hear You Me" was originally written by Jim and performed by Jim's side project, Go Big Casino. At one of GBC's performances, he dedicated "Hear You Me" to Mykel and Carli, two people who had started the Weezer fan club in 1994 and passed away after a car accident in 1997. Mykel and Carli not only helped out Weezer, but helped out a lot of bands and were kind to all. Hear You Me also happens to be the title of the compilation CD put out by Vast Records as a tribute to Mykel and Carli. -

#3 top rated interpretation:The only song I know of that can make me well up with tears. Beautiful song and can apply to anyone that's lost someone they love.

I believe it was written for 2 friends who died in a car accident coming home from a Weezer concert..the name it self has poetic meanings that his friends would say hear you me..
-
They should do this song on glee for cory monteith.
-
I think it's got something to do with a friend of his who is now dead. the song sounds like he is hoping that the person will get into heaven 'May angels lead you in' where all his friends (possibly jesus as well) will be and soon he'll be there to 'hear you me my friends' saying that you will here him in heaven with his friend this song is deadicated to as well as everyone else he loved who died
-
actually, I'm pretty sure it is about losing someone to death.
a fifteen year old girl was murdered at my highschool and they played that song at her funeral. -
Well, when he says "There no one in town I know, you gave us someplace to go" I think he means that he originally was the "new guy" and whoever this other person is, he or she helped him. I think he and the other person became close friends and he lost him/her either by death or something else. I think it's death because he says in the chorus "may angels lead you in" and "on sleepless roads the sleepless go". Angels would lead the friend into heaven, and sleepless roads to heaven because the deceased don't sleep anymore.
I have absolutely no idea who this guy (Jimmy Eat World) is except for this song. This song reminds me of a very close friend that I lost recently. I was the new kid and she hung out with me when nobody else would. Stupid drunk drivers.
I LOVE THIS SONG :) -
It doesn't Necessarily been losing someone who has died, it can also mean losing someone you knew so well and had help you out so much but may have lost contact, but really wanting them to know how thankful they are. Angels are seen as gods messengers but I disagree with the way people feel It's being used. Angels can refer to anything that seems so 'perfect' not necessarily to do with death. It's a really amazing song but at the end of the day, it's however you perceive the song.

I thought this song was called 'Hear you me" not hear me now

This song is about mykel and carli. ( or so I have heard)
weezer wrote a song about them entitles (can you guess?.. ) "mykel and carlie". "this was written for the creators of the weezer fan club, mykel and carli allan. About 4 years after the song was written, the two and their younger sister, trysta, tragically died in a car crash driving back from a weezer concert."
the chorus goes "hear you me, mykel
hear you me, carli "
aparently the two would take care of up and coming bands, cooking them food and givening them a place to stay. (there's no one in town I know, you gave us someplace to go) -
This song is obviously an ode to someone special that passed away. 'Theres no one in town I know, you gave us some place to go' indicates they went to this person at a low point and they helped. 'I never said thank you for that now I'll never have a chance' shows that they died and now this person regrets not expressing there gratitude. Awesome song!
