The singer is trying to convince himself that his wife is not cheating on him, when she clearly is. Either because he's a moron, or because he doesn't want to believe it. He's repeating the same lame excuses that she gives him when she comes home missing things that she intentionally removed in preparation for sex and then either lost or just forgot to put back on. Women simply do not remove their shoes at a BAR, no matter how drunk they are. Earrings can come off, and contacts can pop out, but neither of those events are any more likely to occur when their wearer is drinking tequila. The jacket would have been left at the table, rather than taken into a filthy bathroom stall and removed there. And there is only one reason for a woman to remove her pantyhose outside of her own home, and it isn't a Bon Jovi song.

No, she's definitely cheating on him. The cheating may be a spontaneous thing, possibly abetted by tequila consumption. But more likely, it is an ongoing series of planned liaisons with here paramour. After all, she went to the HOLIDAY INN, a hotel. Yes, I know many hotels have bars, but hotel bars are not the kind of establishments that have DJs that play Bon Jovi songs. And speaking of that, she TOLD him she was going to the Holiday Inn, which means she's not even trying to hide her adultery. Either she knows he's too stupid or lovestruck to figure it out, or she wants a divorce, or perhaps she's just rubbing his nose in it.

This is the ultimate "somebody done somebody wrong" song. Despite the upbeat tempo and happy lyrics, the song is truly sad. The singer's heart is broken, subconsciously, because his conscious mind cannot accept the fact that this woman that he adores would do this to him. The fact that his love is unrequited is too much for him to bear, so he convinces himself that she loves him faithfully as well.

That, or the lyrics are a tongue-in-cheek retelling of the lame excuses she gave him for the missing items. Possibly in the middle of an argument with her about her adultery, though that's unlikely given his referring to her in the third person. Either way, he's realized that she is cheating on him, and he's re-processing the excuses she gave him, with an unspoken "yeah, sure" at the end of each.
