Lana Del Rey: Pretty When You Cry Meaning
Pretty When You Cry Lyrics
love.
Am I that girl that you dream of?
All those little times you said that I'm
your girl.
You make me feel like your whole
world.
I'll wait for you, babe,
It's all I do, babe,
Don't come through,...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is about how Lana's boyfriend hurts her more and more but she allows it because she is infatuated with him. Her justification is that he tells her that she's pretty when she cries. She wants to please him and look pretty for him that she allows to be abused.

2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:To me this song is about a girl in a very complicated relationship or an on and off mess. She is too in love with him to move on to someone new so she waits for him to come back to her but he never does, so she thinks she must be pretty when she cries if he keeps doing these things to hurt her. This song is truly saddening but yet so lovely it touches my soul. I love It.

hi!:D
I really like Lana del Ray, she is the best sad music artist I love all her songs like all of them I listen to them every morning when I'm getting ready for school it makes me feel like I'm in a music video. LANA IS QUEEN. if i got the chance to go to her concert and bring one person i would bring my 11-year-old cousin she loves her music and makes me watch her dance shows on FaceTime.
if I got to meet her irl (Lana) i would probably faint, I would be the happiest person in the world if i got to see my idol playing right infront of meeee!!
Lana del rays biggest fan

where to even start …..
“you make me feel like your whole world” - when the times are good they are so good, she feels loved, she feels adored by this man but at the same time she says “i’ll wait for you babe” which means somethings not right in the relationship.Maybe she’s waiting for a change that he’s promised her and could be a reference to when she later mentions drugs, potentially he’s abusive when using ?. The chorus of “pretty when i cry” i feel like is her maybe noticing the toxicity of this man, however even though he upsets her she loves the good times so bad it doesn’t matter. Which is why people get trapped in abusive relationships as they still love their abuser. “don’t say you need me when you leave and you leave again” a dramatic change in the song, i feel as if she’s coming to when her whits end and the “i can’t do it” she’s so fed up with him.
