Lana Del Rey: Young and Beautiful Meaning
Song Released: 2013
Young and Beautiful Lyrics
Done it all, had my cake now
Diamonds, brilliant, and Bel-Air now
Hot summer nights mid July
When you and I were forever wild
The crazy days, the city lights
The way you'd play with me like a child
Will you...

#1 top rated interpretation:This young girl is looking for someone to love her, and not for what she looks like on the outside but her character and what she looks like on the inside. Therefore, I would say that the main theme or message of this song is that everyone has a void that needs filling and she's looking to fill hers in a relationship.

#2 top rated interpretation:I believe the song's main theme or message is that she want's to know if he will love her for who she truly is and not for what he sees on the outside.

3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:I am not really sure what the real meaning of the song is so this is just my opinion. I see it as a song about wanting to have someone in your life who just loves you and loves you for you. Not loves you for what's on the outside. A meaningful lifetime relationship that takes you through all the ages and still loves even through changes we go through physically. After all aren't we all seeking someone true, someone real, who will love you when your "no longer young and beautiful". Someone to spend an eternity with because you love the person who they are.

this is about 2 people deeply in love and the girl starts to question if he'll still love her without her pretty face and body !
-
This is a song about love in its final and finest from. A love so mature and strong that sees beyond a pretty face and a luscious body. The tour de force of all the stages of loving someone. Obviously this type of feeling can only be felt by an older soul& this is what makes this song so nostalgic. It's like future Lana grandma sings this in a face filled with wrinkles and her gray hair. All she asks for is a love that can evolve into eternal passion.
-
I think that she has fallen deeply in love with someone , she loves him inside and out and she knows that he loves her as well but yet wants that reassurance yet knows at the same time he does too , through all they go through or have gone through , those are heartfelt strong words in my opinion anyway
-
she want's to know that he will truly love her when she's no longer pretty, but will still be the same inside. You can see how she loves him and would even want to be in heaven with him, but she isn't so sure about her love :)

Well.. I'm young and beautiful

It seems to me that the slight dissonance between the orchestral sound together with lana's voice indicates a sort of disbelief that she has to what she's saying. When she asks "will you still love me..." it's almost as if she knows that her life has spiraled to a place where youth and beauty has become her world and she has become delusional by continuing to put it as her life's focus. Her own answer to herself of "I know you will" coupled with the melancholy sound of strings further sounds to me like she's living in her own head without any sense of reality to the truth of her situation. There is nobody listening to her plea. This is just a short taste of what I see in the song. It's quite sad really but very human.

First off I must say I think this is a very beautiful song I think of my husband as we are going though stages together ... my take on it is...a woman who is going though stages of life with a man .. in life everyone ages ..and grows old ... she is realizing she is not that innocent vibrant young woman he fell in love with ... she is asking if he will continue to love her though the life process ... she knows he will ...even if she will nothing left but her aching soul (life experiences and losses..just being tired becomes more apparent with age and time)... she is also remembering him as a young man ... and knows that she will love him as well though the human journey of life ... love is eternal

I do not know what it means for me but when thinking about The Great Gatsby (a movie I saw for the first time in History class because we were learning about the 1920's) it makes sense. Daisy and Gatsby met at a party many years before and Gatsby knew kissing her would change his life. When Nick reunites them, Daisy is not sure if she should allow herself to get as invested it as Gatsby.

Anyone has any idea how this song/lyric is related to The Great Gatsby story?

Eternal love
-
Love is not measured by beauty but by the heart of the person you love.
-
She's so in love and wants to know if he will love her forever. Even when she's old and not beautiful.
-
Lana is amazing at conveying her point through lyrics. Each word brings a new thought that's deep. This song is one of her easier songs to interpret.
It is mainly about lana wanting to be loved for forever no matter what takes place in the relationship. It seems that she believes her love is everlasting because she is using religion with the words'I know you will'. Lana is securing the thought that she is madly in love and it will never end even when death occurs -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
She's basically saying she hopes this guy loves her forever and they never separate, even when she dies and goes to heaven.
