Drunk on You Lyrics

Cottonwood fallin' like snow in July
Sunset, riverside, four wheel drives
In a taillight, circle
Roll down the windows
Turn it on up
Pour a little crown in a Dixie cup
Get the party, started

Girl, you make my speakers go Boom...

    The song “Drunk on You” by Luke Bryan is about cocaine.

    He never references it directly, nor ever will talk about it due to his good country boy image. John Lennon denied that “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” was ever about LSD (and it clearly is) because of the reputation of drugs in Britain at the time. Therefore it makes sense LB doesn't want everyone finding out about the songs' true meaning.
    Here are the subtle clues Luke Bryan gives us in this song and others:

    “girl you make my speakers go boom boom”
    girl = cocaine
    speakers = heart
    boom boom = beating fast

    References to cocaine:

    “snow in July”

    “The best buzz I'm ever gonna find”

    “high on summertime”

    “That kinda thing makes a man go mhmm mhmm”

    “If you ain't a ten, you're a 9.9”
    - (referring to the quality of the blow)

    “Every little kiss is drivin me wild, throwin little cherry bombs into my fire”
    - (every little bump is helping him reach his desired buzz, or ‘fire’)

    “So, let's slip on out, where it's a little bit darker
    And when it gets a little bit hotter
    We'll take off on out in the water”
    - (“when it gets a little bit hotter” means after they blow down they will be warm enough to get naked and jump in the water)

    "Drunk on You" is the sequel to “I Don’t Want this Night to End,” another song obviously about cocaine. Luke and this random girl with excellent quality blow stay up all night partying, and partying with the white lady.
    In this sequel, Luke spends 2 months looking for this girl solely because she has the good stuff (when he sings “if you aint a 10 you’re a 9.9). It wouldn’t make sense for him to be looking all this time for one girl he barely knew, especially considering he’s married.

    For these reasons, the song “Drunk on You” (and “I Don’t Want this Night to End”) are in fact about cocaine.

    This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
