Mandy Moore: Only Hope Meaning
Only Hope Lyrics
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again.
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But you sing to me over and over and over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To...

#1 top rated interpretation:The real meaning of this song isn't about finding the one you love most as in a boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse. The meaning is about finding God and how he is our ONLY hope. As John 4:16(KJV) says "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." This song tells us how God is the ONLY way. He is the way, the truth, and the life.

#2 top rated interpretation:Actually Switchfoot's Jon Foremen wrote this song. Jon is a Jesus follower and this song is clearly his prayer. He realizes God is his "only hope" and prays that in this world of so many distractions that he won't miss God's beautiful plan and purpose for him in his life. After all who could but God, be qualified to sing "the song of the stars" who created and owns the galaxy. I can really relate to this song in my relationship with Almighty loving, living God!!!

This song makes me remember ny mother who died 3 years ago due to cancer. This became my fav song to sing years ago. This deserves an angelic voice and representing that God is our only hope thru the movement and angelic voice while singing this.

"Only Hope" to me is not about finding the "right" person or thing but rather seek out for God's guidance/signs and surrender to it and you will find peace/conviction that what God has in plan for us.
Beautiful song.

It’s a song that comes from a realization that God is our only hope. The second verse where it says:
Sing to me the song of the stars
Of Your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again
When it seems like my dreams so far, sing to me the plans that you have for me over again.
Who else knows the stars and numbers them one by one? Who does the galaxy belong to? Whose higher plans prevail in our lives? God, the Almighty! This song cannot be about any human (except for the one singing it and praying to God to only belong to Him). -
This song touches my heart so much....Whether I'm thinking about god or thinking about my idol that leaves the group because she will taking a surgery.....Sometimes, my tears drop because of this song....
Sorry for the grammar, but yeah, this song is nice.... -
I think it might have had abad root from the start , but I it's only Jesus Christ who is Lord of heaven and Earth
and the true peace of mind cometh from him alone . -
It is about the Lord who is the only hope of our life. In the lyrics "I'm awake in the infinite cold" It is telling us that all of us are born with burden and sufferings in our life but the Lord is the one who give us strength to keep going. And that is why Jamie or Mandy has a sickness, but she chooses to have God beside her who strengthen her and give her hope to live, that's why she doesn't look like she have an uncured sickness and still positive even is she knows that she will going to die soon.

"Only Hope" was recorded by Mandy Moore for the film A Walk to Remember (arranged and produced by the film's composer Mervyn Warren) and is included in her compilation The Best of Mandy Moore, although left out of her 2002 release. It was slated as the second single after "Cry" which, however, was not a hit and consequently "Only Hope" was not released to radio. A music video—largely a date of the movie—was shot and was released successfully to music channels in Asia.

God as higher power is our hope and holds our promise. No human being can do that, only God.

I like the song if I heard it makes me inspire and make me smile. And also I feel I'm living in the world that full of hope'.
Perfect song for me. -
I love the movie "A walk to remember," But when I heard that song I loved it it became my favorite instantly!!And I think that this song was written from the heart. And that gods her only hope doctors can't help the sickness so God is left to help but he can't heal every one on earth there's people with worst sicknesses than her but don't get saved. We all know Jamie wants saved I think every one is but than sometimes it's to late but never when God helps.. And that song is written and sang from the heart of Mandy/Jamie. It has huge meanings and now it's a judge part of my life. It tought me something it should to you to. It inspired me.....❤️

This song is not about trying to find the perfect person. This song has much more hidden inside of its words. Its trying to tell you that their only hope is God and their trying to find him to give her life to him.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

The meaning of this song to me: I think this song is about someone who maybe can't find the right person, and then find finds him or her and wants to belong to them forever. I mean, people will try the same things with a person they like and it doesn't work so they have to try different things each time to keep that person. Everyone screws up. Then they try something different... Or they can't try something different but they want to. I love this song. It means so much in my life.
The best thing about this song is that everyone can interpret it differently to fit their life. <3 -
I think it's about someone whose life is totally wrecked finds his true love and he tries to make peace with his past and move on with the help with that girl... but maybe then reality isn't as easy as it seems: there are things that make them can't be together but he can't tell the girl, only saying that he truly wishes that he could be with her... well in this case Jamie can't tell Landon about her sickness when she's already fallen in love with him and wishes that she could always be with him, right?
