Marshmello: Happier Meaning
Song Released: 2018
Happier Lyrics
Lately, I’ve been, I’ve been thinking
I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier
[Verse 1]
When the morning comes
When we see what we’ve become
In the cold light of day we’re a flame in the wind
Brought the fire that we...

Or a more relatable reason:
Let's say this guy is best friends with another guy and a girl. But he secretly has a crush on the girl and his friend not-so-secretly has a crush on the girl. So the guy plans on how he's gonna be with the girl but he was too late, because the girl had a crush on his friend and asked his friend out. The girl and his friend got together and he was the "third wheel" even though he was the girls closest friend. He tries to cover up and date one of the girls friends. But he breaks up with her. The girl asked why and he would never answer. Then one day he wrote in her sketch book that he dumped the friend cause he had always had a huge crush on the girl. The girl then felt so bad and got conflicted. The guy realized his mistake. He decided he would let her be with his friend. But for a minute he wanted to try to be with her. But he wants her to be happy and wants his friend to be happy. So he lets his feelings go and just stays friends. So the "Now if we jump together at least we can swim away from the wreck we made" part means that if they restart as friends they can leave behind the awkwardness and forget about it and be friends, allowing her to be with her boyfriend. And her knowing that he'll always have her back.
(the more specific details like the sketchbook thing is based off of my story. I love this song because it represents something real to me.) -
Only the lead singer from Bastille had part in writing the song along with Marshmello and Dan Smith. Marshmello had the biggest part in writing the song.
Happier is a man who loves this girl sooo much. But he knew she was only staying with him cause she cared about him, she loved him but was not IN love with him. The man loved her, but knew he had to let go because clinging on was pointless and would just hurt her and him more. He wants to see her happy so he knows that the relationship has to move on so she can go and be with someone she loves. He can't drag it on.
He must have realized it was going to end and he wanted it to end so they could still be friends. But then he wanted to stay just for a moment but realized he has to. He thinks about her being with someone else and how much it would hurt him. But it was a sacrifice that he'd have to make to be with her and he'd pretend he was OK so she wouldn't feel bad.
He also thinks if they "Jump together at least we can swim away from the wreck we made" Which means that if they end this together they could leave the past in the past.
So this is someone who loves this girl and just wants her to be happy, he loves her so much he'd sacrifice his feelings just for this girl. -
i believe the person truly wants the spouse to be happier. that person is now taking it into their own hands, leaving the spouse no other decision but to be what they want. which in my opinion is sometimes necessary as long as they join them on that journey.......that is, if the love is pure.

Before watching the music video, the lyrics to me, relayed a message about a couples hard times in their relationship.
After watching the music video, the main interpretation is clear, and somewhat ambiguous. The fathers feelings towards his daughter (her being bullied growing up and deserves better) and esp when her dog dies. She deserves to be happy, and throughout the music video, she is everything but.
Her father wants happiness from her. As far as the lyrics that say “I must leave”, are the important things in her life that through the circle of life, inevitabley will have to die. -
I think that the lyrics can suggest two different things. The first one is that the person is suicidal. They think it'll be better for their family, friends, partner if they are dead, hence the words "I want to see you smile, know that means I'll have to leave" they think if they have left the world then everyone will be happier. My other interpretation is that of a relationship. He feels that it would be better to end the relationship so that his partner is happier. He is sacrificing the ting he loves to see her happier.

We all have to go someday but when your close to going you know you have to go but at the last moment you want to stay. Happier

Happier by Marshmello, I think the lyrics is very clear too. I searched for the meaning, the real meaning is found on songmeaningsandfacts website.
There is also a meaning on songmeanings website. I think the meanings here kind of relate to this song. For the person who made a latest comment, sorry to hear about your brother. Hopefully, he will recover from his addiction too. You can tell him you want a healthy relationship with him.
Every one of us wants to have a healthy relationship, we want those people in our lives to be happy that sometimes it's better for us to end our relationship or connection with them. Or give them space and connect with them once in a while.
I hope you feel better.
- The person who made comments on songs recently -
This song made me think of the addiction relationship my brother is bound to right now. I just recently found out he has been on heroin and meth for a several months. It has segregated us in many ways and I finally had to just walk away. I knew he loved getting high more than he wanted any healthy relationship with me, his daughter, anyone. It really hit me hard to hear a song like this so close to hearing this news, but crying is cathartic, and I felt much better once I got some of my frustrations out! Really powerful song that can be taken many different ways!

This song can spark many feelings is many different types of people. Some might not even be in a relationship and feel the powerful lyrics of this very well scripted song. They might feel like someone in their life doesn't talk or smile to them, but when they aren't around, that someone smiles. "I want to make you smile, I know that means I'll have to leave." These lyrics play perfectly into this meaning, but everyone has their own interpretation.
All in all, everyone wants their crush, girl/boyfriend, or wife/husband to be happier. Sometimes they feel like it only might be achieved with themselves out of the picture. -
People, are we interpreting the lyrics or the video?? Just looking at the lyrics, it's simple. A relationship has run its course and it's time to move on. Breakups are never easy but it's for the best when two people are no longer happy together. Somewhere we've all been.
-
I unlike most do not think this song is about a person you are leaving. I don't many loved ones that you would make happier by leaving them. I think he's conflicted on a decision to leave a place where he feels he doesn't belong but it's a hard decision. He doesn't want to leave his home but bigger and better things are out there for him. So he's convincing himself that he will be happier if he leaves because he is miserable where he is at now. This song means a lot to me
-
I think that the song is in a way but still has a good meaning. In the video, there is a girl who wasn't treated that well. But on her birthday, she got a dog and she was happier. But later on, the dog gets really ill and with the lyrics of the song, it's like the dog is saying that he wants the girl to be happier so he is gonna go. or die. Otherwise I think that this song has a great meaning and is really sweet. But also in a way depressing.
-
They must have had a big relationship, so it was hard to let go.
-
I think it is about that friends can get you through the toughest of times but that they can't always be with you. Having a relationship can be hard when you stay put but they move on in life.
-
I watched the music video and it is about a girl and her dog. It states off ith a girl who love the color yellow and she is young and she gets a dog bow for her birthday and she is like what is this and then her dad comes out with a dog. Then her and the dog start growing up and she loves the dog and people make fun of her so the dog comferts her and they have a true love. Then as the girl has gotten older so has the dog to the point where the dog is in discomfort so they have to put the dog to sleep. Then the next scene she is a mother and it's her daughters birth day and her daughter gets a dog bow and is like a bow who is it for..... Then she gets a dog........teaching us that our dogs love us and they want us to be happier so they will confert us because we love them
