Martin Page: In the House of Stone and Light Meaning
In the House of Stone and Light Lyrics
Come my restauration wash my body clean
I've been walking a long and crooked path
Where the walls have fallen
And broken me in half
1-I'm telling you
I will not rest 'til I lay down my head
I'm gonna go in the house...

Seems to be about a search for spiritual renewal, and looking for it amongst all religions. Mount Kailas is a reference to Buddhism, and there is also a clear reference to the Havasupai tribe of Native Americans. I think the "old man waiting at the gates for me" is Saint Peter. There are a few other possible references to Christianity--"Holy Lady" might be the Virgin Mary, and the titular "House of Stone and Light" might be a church--but those are a bit of a stretch. The line regarding the "day when I awake the child inside" is a reference to Jungian psychology, which also holds that all myths tap into a collective unconscious mind, and is very concerned with spirituality. An understanding of Jung may be the key to really getting this extremely complex song.
