Metallica: Enter Sandman Meaning
Song Released: 1991
Enter Sandman Lyrics
Don't forget, my son
To include everyone
I tuck you in, warm within
Keep you free from sin
Till the Sandman he comes
Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight
Exit light
Enter night

This song may have to do with Peter pan in a way. the song could be about the fears of growing up, and wishing it would never happen. in Neverland, you don't grow up, and your always a kid. cheesy, but a possibility.

You guys when it comes to metal there is no true interpretation. music is an art although the writer had his own meanings for the lyrics you can give them your own meaning. Also some artist such as metallica most of there songs (not all of them) but many of them were giving no meaning and were meant for the listener to give it a meaning. another band that does this is disturbed. a lot of their lyrics and versus we simply recorded while listening to their lead singer in the shower say random shit while high off of weed
-
The other interpretations are amusing, but here's the real story. It's about a man made out of sand, kind of like the mummy in the Brendan Fraser movie, who wisks around to people's bedrooms and scaring the bejesus out of them. Believe me, I've seen this guy, and it's no joke.

In this song, tne message is that there really is nothing to fear and that it is in your head.
-
It is about a kid having nightmares and being afraid to sleep. It has nothing to do with some ludicrously obtuse comparison to Iraqi trees.

I LOVE Metallica!
This song is simply about a young child who fears falling asleep to avoid the nightmares that come.
I also hear rumors that if the chorus is played backwards it supposedly says "I am the snake I am the snake yeah the snake", I haven't tried that but is it true??? -
I think it tells you that if you pry you will have good dreams and nothing bad will happen to you and if you don't go to sleep some Freddy Krueger wannabe who might be the sandman will try to kill you or get ecw's sandman to hit you with a Singapore cane and drown you with beer.
BEWARE OF FREDDY WANNABES AND SANDMAN -
First...to te george bush guy...this song was made long before iraq you dumbass....but anyway it's about the sandman from the spiderman comics and how he gave chickens nightmares...
-
I think this song is about Jame's nightmares and how he used to have insomnia.
-
It's about a child having nightmares.
-
This song is about nightmares, yes, but also it is about what you fear the most which is what the sandman represents. These things you fear are that come to you in your dreams.
