I kinda see this song as the first of Metallica's "elemental death" trilogy - Jump in the Fire, Ride the Lightning, Trapped Under Ice. It's also interesting to note that all songs relate to situations where death is inevitable due to being trapped, whether physically or because of the influences of other people or substances. Actually, yes it is from the devil's point of view, but it's about how quickly people succumb to doing what's wrong, so they "jump in the fire" without hesitation.

This song is from Satan's point of view, because people are killing themselves nonsensically, and they are all going to Hell, thus they are "jumping" in the fire of Hell.
