    Nelly wrote this song because ever since his sister died of Leukemia in 2005, he stopped writing songs. But, his sister appeared in his dreams and told him to start writing again. The song is about his sister, not about not having a true love.

    Nelly at one point had a desire to be with someone who was so special and so significant to him but she is so far away and he doesn't think that it will happen so he just calls it just a dream because he doesn't think it'll ever happen.

    I think this song is about having a dream of loosing some one so precious, all the pain they felt in that dream of loosing that person, they wake up, and realise it was juts a dream, so now they can make it All right

    I think it is amazing how Nelly did this song because of his sister and I hope he writes more songs about his sister it is really sweet and nice that he did it for his sister.I hope to here more of his songs and I am a huge fan of his song called just a dream and all his other music it is really amazing. Me and my brother and 2 sisters love your music and I hope I can see him preform one day. I am doing a project about him and other singers who do things for reasons that it should be done for and for fun. Please keep writing and I hope he does his beast at everything. I hope he remembers his sister forever.

    i can relate to him...i love to write songs even if they are for my eyes only. anyway i had a very close friend die of suicide and i completely stopped and didnt want to do it ever again. then one night i had a dream of him talking to me saying to keep doing it. he was the only one that i would let read the songs and so i wrote one about how great of a person he was.

    I think it is about Ashanti, and how it could have bean if she was not being defensive towards him with the media, she was so worried about her public image,I think this fustrated him, because he is passionate and romantic, and shows his love openly, he felt she was a bit ashamed of him, maybe she had her reasons behind closed doors. But if she had showed more open in the relationship, they could have been married and had children basically, only she know what things were about between them behind closed doors.

    I had an amazing experience last year, when I fell in love with someone that lived far away from me, and we loved each other more than anything. But at the end she stopped talking to me, and I dreamed after about how different it would've been if we were living in the same place. I think it has some connection to the song because I knew that our love was impossible, but my feelings did not let stop thinking about her. In his song it truly means about someone that loves his girl so much, but it'll never happen, and he just dreams it hoping it was true.

    This song is about feeling connected to someone and wanting real love. He craves real love and marriage. He feels like it's
    a Dream because of his past let downs with women. He says will she come back no one knows... Secretly he really loves someone but has been told he can't be will her.
