Newton Faulkner: If This Is It Meaning
If This Is It Lyrics
No one speak
Please don't say that it's just me
It's not just me
And even though I won't forget
Just don't want this to end just yet
Not just yet
But if I had one chance to freeze time and stand still and soak in...

I think this song is all about decision making and how we chose the live life. I think Newton Faulkner is trying to say that sometimes you want to pace of life can go so fast that you just want everything to stop and to just think about what to do, and to just soak it all in, instead of rushing into things. It also taps into the whole afterlife thing, and if this is the only life we have.
The first verse is saying that he wants life to be longer, and doesn't want life to go to quickly, because often it goes so quickly we miss the good things in life,'don't want this to end just yet'
The chorus is saying that sonetimes you just want to stop, and not have to make decisions in life, because sometimes you make the wrong decisions, and instead you just want to stop time, and look at all the different sides, and make sure you know what you're doing is right, 'sunshine could sbreak through and show you everything'.
The second verse is saying that this life might be all we have, and there might not be an afterlife, so we should just make the ost of it, 'can't fast forward to the end'. It also says that we shouldn't fret over past choices that went wrong, and that we can't go back in time to change them, 'we can't stop and start again'.
The 3rd verse/bridge could be saying that sometimes fears that we still havn't overcome start to haunt us again, but now, because he has frozen time and has soaked in everyting, he now knows how to cope with the world and can get through it all, 'I can take the slings and stones and fire'. Then, it says 'you drag me up again'. This could mean that when we fail in life we can always pick ourselves up and keep going.
Then the last little bit could be saying that he doesn't want to let go of just letting time freeze to appreciate all there is and to soak it up, otherwise he might just go back into the fast paced life and forget about it all, I'm so scared I might forget'
So really, the song is about how often you want to just stop time and just chill out for a while, bacuease this might be all be all we get, and sometimes we just rush into things without just slowing down and thinking about the decisions we make, because we might make the wrong ones.
